TLDR: There are many different ways you can use Bilt Cash, but it comes with a lot of restrictions and limitations. There are some winners, but overall, it just feels very complex. Stick with using your Bilt Cash to redeem against your rent for the simplest ratio: $0.03 Bilt Cash = 1 Bilt Point

What’s our take on this?

I’m not sure… it’s a bit lukewarm.

On one hand, there’s some very explicit use cases of Bilt Cash that could be very useful. For instance, I could see myself getting very good value out of the:

  • Restaurant credits (up to $25/month)
  • Points accelerators (cost $200 Bilt Cash, but can get effectively 5,000+ additional Bilt Points, meaning a 25 Bilt Points per $1 Bilt Cash ratio)
  • Lyft rideshare credit (up to $10/month)

On the other hand, there are so many useless credits (for me at least):

  • For instance, the 2 night minimum for hotel credits is incredible useless given that you can only redeem up $50-100/month depending on your Bilt status.
  • GoPuff credit (up to $5/month) isn't enough to cover an order
  • Priority Pass extra guest credits (up to $64/month) is completely useless because I don't guest extras...

However, what I don't like about this is that Bilt Cash redemptions look to be another coupon book game. I don't want another coupon book right now, so if I have excess Bilt Cash, I may just use it for simple redemptions like Points Accelerators.

What are the strongest Bilt Cash redemptions looking to be?

I'm zeroing in on the Points Accelerators. Why?

For $200 in Bilt Cash, you're basically going to earn an additional 5,000 points, at most (enables +1x bonus points on all everyday spend for the next $5,000 in spend).

This essentially means that you're "converting" your existing Bilt Cash into Bilt Points through additional spend. However, you have to remember that you earned that Bilt Cash through other spend methods as well, at a rate of 4% per $1 spent. So, you had to have spent $5,000 to get that $200 Bilt Cash already.

There is a significant opportunity cost with using this Points Accelerator method, since you could have spent that $200 in Bilt Cash elsewhere. If you chose to convert that into points against your rent, you'd have 6,666 points.

Final Thoughts

The new, explicit Bilt Cash redemptions finally bring some light into the murkiness of the Bilt Cash ecosystem. While there are some interesting redemptions, it will require a bit more thinking and evaluation to decide if Bilt Cash is the best redemption method out there.

Remember: you can avoid all the Bilt Cash craziness by electing to earn points via Option 1 instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to earn Bilt Cash?

No. Option 1 earns no Bilt Cash. Option 2 is the only method that earns Bilt Cash.

Does Bilt Cash roll over monthly?

It rolls over every month, but it all expires in the year in which it was earned (except for $100 Bilt Cash that will roll over annually).

For instance, if you have $500 in Bilt Cash in Dec 2026, then only $100 of it will rollover come Jan 2027.

Can I use the points accelerator if I only have the Bilt Blue card?

No. Points Accelerator is exclusive to the Obsidian and Palladium cards.

How many points do I earn with the Points Accelerator?

The Points Accelerator gives an additional 1x bonus points on all everyday spend for the next $5,000 spent following activation. So on a Palladium, this would mean $5,000 in spend earns:

  • 10,000 base points (from 2x spend multiplier)
  • 5,000 bonus points (from Points Accelerator)
  • $200 Bilt Cash (from 4% Bilt Cash accrual in Option 2)

In effect, you're paying $200 in Bilt Cash to get 15,000 points from $5,000 in spend and an additional $200 in Bilt Cash.
