Lyft is one of the staple rideshare companies, with many users fluctuating between it and Uber. While Uber has most of its partnerships with Amex, Lyft is traditionally known to be more of a Chase partner.

Interestingly, Bilt Rewards has a partnership with Lyft that allows you to earn points on Lyft rideshare even without having one of the new Bilt cards. And these are Bilt Points, some of the most powerful transfer currencies out there.

TLDR:

  • Link your Bilt Rewards and Lyft accounts to earn 2x Bilt Points per dollar on every Lyft ride, even without a Bilt credit card.
  • Stack the 2x Bilt loyalty bonus on top of your existing credit card rewards. For example, pair it with a Chase Sapphire Preferred for 5x Chase points + 2x Bilt Points = 7x total points per dollar on Lyft.
  • Avoid redeeming Bilt points for Lyft rides. You only get ~0.7 cents per point (and that value can vary), less than half the value you can get through transfer partners like Hyatt.
  • Set it up in under 5 minutes from either the Bilt Rewards portal (Neighborhood > Rideshare) or the Lyft app (You > Rewards > Linked).

How do I link my Bilt account to Lyft?

First, make sure you log in to Bilt Rewards. You can head there using the link below.

Once you're logged in, go to Neighborhood and then Rideshare:

In the bottom left, you'll want to click "Link Account" which will then prompt you to connect your Lyft and Bilt accounts.

How do I link my Bilt and Lyft accounts from Lyft's app?

Firstly, you’ll want to go onto the Lyft app. From there you will go to the section for “You” in the bottom right of the app.

Then you will click on "Rewards" under the Programs section and then "Linked" and it will show you all the Lyft linking partners you can connect your account to.

You will choose the Bilt option and sign in to your account.

After you sign in, you just need to follow the prompts and should be all set from there.

Connecting your Bilt Rewards to the Lyft app is important since you won’t be able to earn or redeem Bilt points until doing so.

Is it worth it to link Bilt to my Lyft account?

Short answer, yes. You should indeed link your Bilt Rewards to your Lyft account because you’re earning Bilt points at no cost to you.

Even without the credit card, if you select Bilt Rewards as your Lyft earning partner, you earn 2x Bilt Points on Lyft rideshare per dollar spent. These 2 Bilt Points are additive, meaning they stack on top of whatever credit card points you earn.

For example, if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and pay your Lyfts with it, you earn 5x total points through September 2027. If you then select Bilt as your Lyft rewards partner, you earn:

  • 5x Chase points via your Preferred
  • 2x Bilt Points via rewards partnership

That's pretty good!

What if I have a Bilt card?

Your total Lyft earning depends on which card you hold, with the 2x loyalty bonus stacking on top:

CardAnnual FeeLyft Earning (with Bilt linked)
No Bilt Card$02x Bilt Points (loyalty bonus only) [but you can link with a different card to earn points on spend]
Bilt Blue$03x Bilt Points (1x base spend + 2x loyalty bonus)
Bilt Obsidian$95/year3x Bilt Points (1x everyday spend + 2x loyalty bonus)
Bilt Palladium$495/year4x Bilt Points (2x everyday spend + 2x loyalty bonus)

In all cases, you need to link your Bilt and Lyft accounts and select Bilt as your active rewards partner to get (at least) the 2x loyalty bonus.

Uber or Lyft: what’s better?

Based on my hundreds of rideshare experiences over the years, I’ll say that I don’t have much of a preference between Uber and Lyft. Generally speaking, I’ve found that Uber rides are nicer with cleaner cars and more gentle drivers. But I’ve had really positive experiences in Lyfts as well. And bad experiences with both Uber and Lyft.

In summary, I'd be happy to take a Lyft in order to earn some extra Bilt Points, whether through rideshare or at Bilt Mobile Checkout restaurants.

Is it worth it to redeem Bilt points for Lyft rides?

999 times out of 1000, I would never redeem Bilt points for Lyft rides. The reason being that you are not getting the best value for your Bilt points. According to Frequent Miler, you are getting 0.7 cents per point in value when you redeem your Bilt points for Lyft rides. This is less than half of what you could get for your Bilt points. Often, you can get over 2 cents per point in value with your Bilt points through transfer partners like Hyatt.

Final Remarks

If you’d like some extra Bilt points for less than 5 minutes of effort, connecting your Bilt Rewards to your Lyft account is a no brainer. And you’ll earn points whether you use your Bilt card or not, so make sure to link the two together sooner rather than later!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I earn Bilt points on Lyft without a Bilt credit card?

Yes. You just need a free Bilt Rewards account. Link it to your Lyft account and select Bilt as your active rewards partner to earn 2x Bilt Points per dollar on every ride, regardless of which credit card you pay with.

How do I link my Bilt and Lyft accounts?

You can link them from either side. In Bilt Rewards, go to Neighborhood > Rideshare and click "Link Account." In the Lyft app, go to You > Rewards > Linked and select Bilt. The whole process takes under 5 minutes.

Can I link other loyalty programs to my Lyft account?

Yes. You can also connect your United MileagePlus account, Hilton Honors account, or Atmos Rewards account. You can only have one active loyalty partner at a time, so you'll need to choose which program you want earning on your rides.

Is Bilt Rewards the best Lyft partner?

We think so. Every other Lyft partner locks you into one program, like Atmos (Alaska/Hawaiian), United, or Hilton. Bilt earns a transferable currency you can move 1:1 to Hyatt, United, Alaska/Atmos, and many more. Wouldn't you rather earn flexible points you can route anywhere?

Does Lyft have a partnership with any airline rewards programs?

Yes. Lyft partners with United MileagePlus and Atmos Rewards (which covers Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines). However, both of those lock your earnings into a single airline's miles. Bilt Points can transfer 1:1 to both United and Alaska/Atmos, so you get the same access with more flexibility.

How much are Bilt points worth when redeemed for Lyft rides?

About 0.7 cents per point, which is a poor redemption. You can get over 2 cents per point by transferring Bilt Points to hotel partners like Hyatt. We'd almost always recommend saving your Bilt Points for travel redemptions and paying for Lyft rides with a credit card instead.
